DTN Early Word Grains 09/02 05:59 Buying in Ag Markets Ahead of Three-Day Weekend PRE-6 a.m. GLOBEX PRICES: December corn is up 5 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 13 cents, and December KC wheat is up 10 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst PRE-6 a.m. GLOBEX PRICES: December corn is up 5 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 13 cents, and December KC wheat is up 10 1/4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Quiet trade in equity markets overnight with U.S. futures awaiting fresh jobs data from the Labor Department. Estimates expect to see 528,000 jobs added during the month of July with the unemployment rate holding at 3.5%. Energy markets are bouncing back overnight with crude oil up nearly 2.0% following three straight days of heavy selling. The U.S. Dollar Index remains just below its 20-year highs set the previous session. Metals are mixed with copper lower while gold and silver trade higher. Grains are higher across the board with wheat contracts leading gains. It will be interesting to see if funds want to own commodities heading into the long Labor Day weekend given the headwinds faced this week. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 145.99 at 31,656.42 and the S&P 500 up 11.85 at 3,955.00 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.265%. Early Friday, the September DJIA futures are down 17 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 10.63 (-0.04%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 1.5 points (0.05%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 51.01 points (0.71%), Germany's DAX up 170.09 points (1.35%) and France's CAC 40 up 37.43 points (0.62%). The September Euro is up 0.005 at 1.000 and the September U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.408 at 109.270. The December 30-Year T-Bond is up 1/32nds, while December gold is up $7.30 at $1,716.60 and October crude oil is up $1.70 at $88.31. Corn on China's Dalian Exchange was down -0.33% while soybeans were down -1.31% and soybean meal was up 0.66%.
