DTN Early Word Grains 09/07 05:56 Wheat Jumps on Putin Export Comments December corn is up 4 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are down 2 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 28 1/2 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn is up 4 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are down 2 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 28 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Mixed to weaker trade in equities overnight with U.S. futures flat ahead of the cash open later Wednesday morning. The real attention grabber overnight is the U.S. Dollar Index surging to fresh 20-year highs above 110.00, pushing developed and developing-nation currencies to new lows in the process. The next round of highs in sight would be 119-120 from 2000-2002. Energy markets are firmer overnight but just off lows set in the overnight session with downtrends still in place. Metals are mixed overnight with gold and silver higher while copper is lower. Grain markets are mixed to higher overnight with wheat leading strong gains while corn and meal follow. The comments from Russian President Putin need to be monitored closely in coming days to see if a material change to Ukrainian export flows occurs. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 173.14 at 31,145.30 and the S&P 500 down 16.07 at 3,924.26 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.34%. Early Wednesday, the September DJIA futures are up 41 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 196.21 (-0.71%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 2.85 points (0.09%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 56.81 points (-0.78%), Germany's DAX down 70.92 points (-0.56%) and France's CAC 40 down 28.66 points (-0.47%). The September Euro is down 0.001 at 0.990 and the September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.241 at 110.445. The December 30-Year T-Bond is up 3/32nds, while December gold is up $2.10 at $1,715.00 and October crude oil is up $0.54 at $87.42. Corn on China's Dalian Exchange was down 0.36% while soybeans were down 0.61% and soybean meal was up 0.12%.
