DTN Early Word Grains 09/14 05:50 Crop Prices Mostly Higher as Rail Strike Deadline Approaches December corn was down 1 1/2 cents, November soybeans were up 9 cents and December KC wheat was up 4 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was down 1 1/2 cents, November soybeans were up 9 cents and December KC wheat was up 4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Tuesday, U.S. stock futures are starting higher, finding light support after Tuesday's higher-than-expected increase in the consumer price index led to a 1,276-point drop on the Dow Jones. Tuesday's report has many wondering if the Federal Reserve will respond with a full-percent hike on September 21 and traders will get to visit the topic again at 7:30 a.m. CDT when the Labor Department releases its report on August producer prices. Grain prices aren't showing much response yet, but traders are likely nervous about the possibility of a rail workers strike later this week. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1,276.37 at 31,104.97 and the S&P 500 down 177.72 at 3,932.69 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.42%, near its highest yield in 11 years. Early Tuesday, December Dow Jones futures are trading up 138 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 2.78% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.80%. European markets are a little lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.70%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.12% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.04%. The December euro is up $0.0015 at $.9995. The December U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.24 at 109.57. The December 30-year T-bond is down 5/32nds, while December gold is down $1.70 at $1,715.70 and October crude oil is up $0.04 at $87.35. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was down 0.1%, November soybeans were up 0.1%, January soybean meal was up 0.0% and January soybean oil was down 0.1%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading down 1.4%.
