DTN Early Word Grains 09/20 05:53 Crops Show Small Early Gains Tuesday as Fed Meeting Begins December corn was up 4 cents, November soybeans were up 1 cent and December KC wheat was up 4 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was up 4 cents, November soybeans were up 1 cent and December KC wheat was up 4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Tuesday, stock futures in the U.S. are starting slightly lower with mixed trading in Europe. Overnight news included German producer prices up 46% in August from a year ago and Sweden's central bank increasing its interest rate from 0.75% to 1.75%, both reported by RTTNews.com. Here in the U.S., the Federal Reserve begins its two-day meeting Tuesday and is expected to raise the federal funds rate target by at least 0.75% Wednesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 197.26 at 31,019.68 and the S&P 500 up 26.56 at 3,899.89 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.49%, its highest yield in 11 years. Early Tuesday, December Dow Jones futures are trading down 118 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.44% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.22%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.31%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.47% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.36%. The December euro is down $0.0014 at $.9990. The December U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.25 at 109.98. The December 30-year T-bond is down 15/32nds, while December gold is down $0.70 at $1,677.50 and October crude oil is up $0.46 at $86.19. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was down 0.4%, November soybeans were down 0.4%, January soybean meal was up 0.3% and January soybean oil was down 1.7%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.0%.
