While export demand for U.S. wheat remains slow, relative values have put hard red spring wheat more in favor for global buyers as sales for that class are now tracking with year-ago levels. Weekly Sales...USDA reported another week of soft export demand for U.S. wheat, coming in 27% below the four-week average at 6 mb. Total exports now stand at 415 mb, which is 8% behind a year ago and 11% off the five-year average pace. Hard red winter was top seller with 5.2 mb, putting sales at 118 mb, which is 33% behind a year ago and 4% below average. Hard red spring registered 3.9 mb and with 122 mb in sales is running right on track with a year ago and 16% behind average. White wheat saw less than a million bushels in new business and with 93 mb in commitments, sets 13% ahead of a year ago and 25% below average. Mexico was the big buyer for the week, securing 3.4 mb of both hard red winter and spring wheat. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2022 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
