DTN Early Word Grains 10/27 05:48 Row Crop Prices Higher as Basis Strengthens December corn was up 2 1/2 cents, January soybeans were up 5 cents and December KC wheat was up 8 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was up 2 1/2 cents, January soybeans were up 5 cents and December KC wheat was up 8 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Thursday, stock futures in the U.S. were starting higher, even with mixed trading in Europe and disappointing earnings reports from Alphabet (Google) and Microsoft on Wednesday. Ford reported a net loss in the third quarter. Thursday's reports include Caterpillar, Amazon, Apple and others. At 7:30 a.m. CDT, things will get a little busy with USDA's weekly export sales report, weekly U.S. jobless claims, September durable goods orders, an update of the U.S. Drought Monitor and the Commerce Department's first estimate of third-quarter U.S. GDP all released at the same time. The European Central Bank is expected to raise its interest rate Thursday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 2.37 at 31,839.11 and the S&P 500 down 28.51 at 3,830.60, while the 10-Year Treasury yield eased to 4.01%, down from the highest yield since 2008. Early Thursday, December Dow Jones futures are trading up 139 points. Asian markets are mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.32% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.55%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.35%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.35% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.50%. The December euro is down $0.0021 at $1.010. The December U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.14 at 109.70. The December 30-year T-bond is down 15/32nds, while December gold is down $2.00 at $1,667.20 and December crude oil is down $0.02 at $87.89. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was up 0.1%, November soybeans were up 1.5%, January soybean meal was down 0.0% and January soybean oil was down 0.3%. January Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.1%.
