DTN Early Word Grains 12/08 05:49 Crop Prices Quietly Higher Early Thursday March corn was up 1 cent, January soybeans were up 5 cents and March KC wheat was up 1 cent. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst PRE-6 AM GLOBEX PRICES: March corn was up 1 cent, January soybeans were up 5 cents and March KC wheat was up 1 cent. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Thursday, stock futures in the U.S. were trading slightly higher after a roughly steady performance Wednesday. Traders remain cautious ahead of next week's likely rate hike from the Federal Reserve, anticipated by many to be a half-percent increase. Thursday's earnings reports include Costco and Broadcom, reported CNBC.com. USDA's weekly export sales report is due out at 7:30 a.m. CST, along with weekly U.S. jobless claims. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.58 at 33,597.92 and the S&P 500 down 7.34 at 3,933.92, while the 10-Year Treasury yield fell to 3.41%, the lowest yield in over two months. Early Thursday, March Dow Jones futures are trading up 24 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.40% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.33%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.10% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.14%. The December euro is down $0.0020 at $1.0504. The December U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.29 at 105.35. The March 30-year T-bond is down 13/32nds, while February gold is down $4.10 at $1,793.90 and January crude oil is up $0.86 at $72.87. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was up 0.4%, January soybeans were up 1.6%, January soybean meal was up 2.2% and January soybean oil was down slightly. February Malaysian palm oil is trading down 0.5%.
