DTN Early Word Grains 12/15 06:02 Grains Quietly Higher Ahead of Export Sales March corn is down 1 cent per bushel, January soybeans are up 1/2 cent, and March KC wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst PRE-6 AM GLOBEX PRICES: March corn is down 1 cent per bushel, January soybeans are up 1/2 cent, and March KC wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Mostly lower equity trade overnight with U.S. futures suggesting a solidly lower open later Thursday morning. Even though markets got exactly what they wanted from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, it doesn't appear to be enough to keep things afloat. Fed Chair Powell reiterated that many more interest rate increases are likely, even if they are smaller than earlier in 2022. Energy markets are mixed with crude and natural gas higher while products are weaker. Crude oil is working on its fourth winning session in a row. The U.S. Dollar Index is up by 0.5% overnight following a drop to six-month lows Wednesday. Metals are weaker across the board with silver leading losses, down 2.90%. Grain markets are quietly mixed overnight with the exception of soybean oil which is off over 1.0%. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 142.29 at 33,966.35 and the S&P 500 down 24.33 at 4,019.65 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.503%. Early Thursday, the March DJIA futures are down 240 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 104.51 (-0.37%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 7.88 points (-0.25%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 26.22 points (-0.35%), Germany's DAX down 151.72 points (-1.05%) and France's CAC 40 down 65.12 points (-0.97%). The December Euro is down 0.005 at 1.060 and the December U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.546 at 104.285. The March 30-Year T-Bond is up 7/32nds, while February gold is down $28.80 at $1,789.90 and January crude oil is up $0.04 at $77.32. Corn on China's Dalian Exchange was down 0.07% while soybeans were down 1.98% and soybean meal was down 1.41%.
