DTN Closing Grain Comments 12/21 13:53 Wheat Reacts to Frigid Weather Threat, Corn Challenges Resistance Again Grain and the soy complex rallied early on Wednesday, but beans and oil failed to follow through, sinking lower at midday before recovering a bit. Wheat reacted to the impending threat of freeze damage as sub-zero temperatures were slated to invade Southern Plains wheat fields. Corn was up in sympathy and on ideas that U.S. corn is gaining a competitive edge for the spring versus Brazil, closing above key resistance. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed up 10 1/4 cents per bushel and May corn was up 9 3/4 cents. January soybeans closed up 2 1/2 cents and March soybeans were up 4 3/4 cents. March KC wheat closed up 17 cents, March Chicago wheat was up 17 1/4 cents and March Minneapolis wheat was up 10 1/4 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.199 at 103.805. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 526.91 points at 33,376.65. February gold is up $0.80 at $1,826.20, March silver is down $0.01 at $24.26 and March copper is up $0.0230 at $3.8220. February crude oil is up $2.08 at $78.31, February heating oil is up $0.0813, January RBOB is up $0.0332 and January natural gas is up $0.032.
