Year-end price comparisons show soft white trading more than $2 lower than a year ago, dark northern spring is down 70 cents and hard red winter 11.5% protein about 20 cents higher. Weekly Sales...USDA reported a rebound in wheat export demand as sales of 17.6 mb were the best tally in two months. Total wheat sales stand at 548 mb, which is 6% behind a year ago and 14% below the five-year average pace. Hard red winter registered the best week of export demand in nearly four months, scoring 6.4 mb to put commitments at 152 mb and setting 34% behind a year ago and 7% below average. Hard red spring garnered 4.6 mb, putting sales at 166 mb and stands 6% ahead of a year ago but 13% behind average. White wheat sales came in right at the four-week average of 3 mb and with 133 mb in commitments, sets 27% ahead of a year ago but 30% off the five-year average pace. Top Buyers...Japan was the big buyer of U.S. wheat last week, booking 5.1 mb of white, hard red winter and spring wheat.
