DTN Early Word Grains 01/09 05:38 Crop Prices Start a Little Higher Monday With Friendlier Outside Markets March corn is up 1 cent, March soybeans are up 5 cents and March KC wheat is up 4 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is up 1 cent, March soybeans are up 5 cents and March KC wheat is up 4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Monday, stock futures in the U.S. were slightly higher, still benefitting from Friday's report from the Labor Department showing wages up 0.3% in December, less than expected. European and Asian stocks are also starting a little higher. USDA's weekly report of grain export inspections is due out at 10 a.m. CST. On Thursday, the Labor Department will have its next consumer price index report and USDA will have its next monthly supply and demand estimates. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 700.53 at 33,630.61 and the S&P 500 up 86.98 at 3,895.08, while the 10-Year Treasury yield fell to 3.57%, below its 100-day average. Early Friday, March Dow Jones futures are trading up 105 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.59% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up x%. European markets are mostly a little higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.01%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.25% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.04%. The March euro is up $0.0022 at $1.0716. The March U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.21 at 103.44. The March 30-year T-bond is down 21/32nds, while February gold is up $8.70 at $1,878.40 and February crude oil is up $2.61 at $76.38. On China's Dalian exchange, March corn was up 0.3%, March soybeans were down 0.1%, May soybean meal was up 0.3% and May soybean oil was down 0.5%. March Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.6%.
