Modestly higher white wheat basis levels offset some of the decline in Chicago, but nearby bids moved to the lowest level since mid-August of last year. Expectations for larger global wheat production numbers from USDA on Thursday have been one factor weighing on futures prices. Shipments...Weekly export inspections revealed yet another week of sub- par activity for U.S. wheat shipments, coming in at 7.2 mb. Year-to-date shipments stand at 444 mb, which is about 3% behind a year ago. Loadings for white wheat topped the list, coming in at 2.7 mb and going mostly to China. Hard red spring registered 2.1 mb for the week and hard red winter was at 1.9 mb. West coast shipments, showed that in addition to the soft white wheat, China took on 5.4 mb of corn and 12 mb of soybeans. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent.
