DTN Early Word Grains 01/27 05:42 Grain Prices Quietly Mixed Early Friday March corn is up 1 1/2 cents, March soybeans are up 1 cent and March KC wheat is down 3 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is up 1 1/2 cents, March soybeans are up 1 cent and March KC wheat is down 3 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Friday, stock futures in the U.S. were trading roughly steady, with prices a little higher in Europe. Thursday's reports showed slight growth in fourth-quarter GDP and a lower-than-expected week of U.S. jobless claims. The U.S. index of personal consumption expenditures will be out at 7:30 a.m. CST, an indicator of inflation watched by the Fed. The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index follows at 9 a.m. Friday's earnings reports include American Express and Chevron. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 205.57 at 33,949.41 and the S&P 500 up 44.21 at 4,060.43, while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.49%, near the lowest yields in four months. Early Friday, March Dow Jones futures are down 1 point. Asian markets are slightly higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.07% and China's markets closed until Monday. European markets are a little higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.14%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.18% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.22%. The March euro is down $0.0006 at $1.0915. The March U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.03 at 101.67. The March 30-year T-bond is down 27/32nds, while February gold is down $4.30 at $1,925.70 and March crude oil is up $1.04 at $82.05. March Malaysian palm oil is trading up 3.4%.
